Abstract
Gestational diabetes complicates 1.4% to 2.5% of all pregnancies. Ketoacidosis, pregnancy-induced, phyeonephritis, maternal neglect and severe congenital-malformations are associated with high perinatal mortality. An increased rate of shoulder
dystocia,
accompanied by major risks for traumatic injury and birth asphyxia, have been consistently associated with the delivery of large infants. W. H. O. Recommended the 50Gm OGTT as a screening test for gestational diabetes at 24~28 week's gestation.
The
method proposed by Lind using a random whole blood glucose test is efficient, does not inconvenient to patients and relatively cost effective in terms of staff and laboratory resources. We surveyed the Lind's method for randomly selected pregnant
woman
in order to screen gestational diabetes.
We selected 42 pregnant women out of 250 pregnant women y random whole blood glucose test and diagnosed 8 pregnant as having gestational diabetes by full 3-hrs 100Gm OGTT.
In conclusion, the I ind's method is useful method for screening gestational diabetes inst and of 50 Gm OGTT.
